How To Make Sesame Halva

WORLD METEOROLOGICAL DAY 2009 WORLD WATER DAY 2009

This year for World Water Day, we draw your attention on water resources that cross borders and unite us.

The 263 transboundary basins and lakes in the world are spread through the territory of 145 countries, covering almost half the Earth's land surface. Similarly, reservoirs Freshwater pass in silence beneath the border into aquifers subterráneos.Hay enough freshwater to meet the needs of all, however the water resources are not equitably distributed and often are not managed properly. To date, many countries face water shortages. In some areas, the availability of fresh water quality has been significantly reduced due to pollution caused by wastes generated by humans, industry and agriculture. Since 1900, half of the world's wetlands, ie, our main source of renewable fresh water, are lost. Climate change will, no doubt, a direct impact on the supply of fresh water in many regions.

Seeing that all countries seek to meet their water needs in a context of limited water resources, some foresee a future filled with conflict. However, history has taught us that cooperation and not conflict, is the most common response addressing the issues related to the management of transboundary water resources. During the past 60 years have reached more than 200 international agreements related to water, and only 37 cases have been reported use of violence between states, on issues relating to resources hídricos.En this sense, it is important continue to promote opportunities for cooperation that the management of transboundary water resources can provide. We all share responsibility for the management of transboundary water resources for present and future generations.
